About Frankie
Frankie is a small, wire-coated Corgi/Miniature Schnauzer mix being fostered in Oak Forest, IL. He comes with a special personality and a set of needs that require a calm, adult-only home with someone experienced in managing anxious or quirky dogs. Frankie is reliably housetrained, loves his walks and car rides (especially with a seatbelt), and has a playful obsession with orange toys. Treats are the quickest way to his heart—and his obedience—with basic commands well-practiced if rewarded properly. Frankie’s anxiety leads to reactivity, especially around visitors to the home. He does best in an environment with few guests and must always be allowed to control the pace of interactions, both with strangers and his people. Barking at activity outside and at the crate if left too long while you’re home is part of his routine, but he usually settles when crated alone. He can’t live with children or dogs, but has handled life with an independent cat as long as clear boundaries are respected. At heart, Frankie is independent—happy to share a space, wanting predictability and a human who understands his cues, not constant attention. Frankie’s progress is thanks to a careful foster and veterinary behaviorist, who will help transition him to the right adoption candidate. Applicants will have a consultation with the behaviorist to ensure Frankie’s future stays bright. Click apply to start the adoption process.
