About Koda
Koda is a five-year-old black and red German Shepherd with a strong foundation in training and socialization thanks to his previous owners. He came into rescue after his family dynamics changed, but it's clear he was cherished and received plenty of care. Koda knows more than a dozen commands, handles himself well in crowded public spaces, and is both housebroken and crate trained. He travels calmly in the car, and his off-leash manners are exceptional. Around dogs, Koda is neutral and doesn’t cause a fuss. He’s happiest when given tasks—playing fetch, searching for hidden items, and doing obedience drills light him up. Koda’s foster mom calls him a true “searching machine.” His energy level ranges from moderate to high, making him a good fit for an active home, especially one with working dog experience. Ideally, he’ll join someone already involved in the sport or scent work scene. Koda hasn’t had bite work training and won’t be suited for that, but he’d make an outstanding nosework or detection companion. Koda is food- and praise-motivated, affectionate, and genuinely wants to please his handler. His reactions to cats and small animals are unknown. Koda is looking for a purposeful home with the experience and drive to keep him engaged. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
