About Monkey

Monkey is a young Boxer/Rottweiler mix found as a stray and brought in with his brother after some rough days on the run. When he arrived, he was severely neglected—covered in fleas and ticks, suffering from flea allergies, patchy hair, and in desperate need of care and attention. He hadn’t had much socialization or any proper training before arriving at the shelter, and even basic things like walking on a leash and receiving affection were new to him. Since arriving, Monkey has made solid progress with leash training and is learning what love and gentle care feel like. He’s a dog who will need a patient, understanding adopter willing to help continue his socialization and basic training. Housebreaking will be a work in progress, and previous experience working with shelter dogs or those with challenging backgrounds is a plus. Monkey’s greatest joy is playing with other dogs, and he’d thrive in a home with well-behaved canine companions. He isn’t a turn-key dog, but the potential for growth and deep bond is real if you’re willing to invest the time and patience he needs. If you’re looking for a rewarding project dog and have a heart for underdogs, Monkey is definitely worth meeting. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
