About Asphalt

Asphalt ACCT-A-246846 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to behavioral concerns. Asphalt must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or EXPERIENCED ADOPTER by MONDAY, MAY 11TH at 10AM. Should Asphalt's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Asphalt came to ACCT Philly as a stray on April 5th and was briefly adopted before being returned on April 16th when someone in the home was having an allergic reaction. After a few weeks, he was adopted again but was returned a few days later due to nippy and destructive behavior in the home. At the shelter, Asphalt is playful, affectionate, and absolutely obsessed with tennis balls - he could play fetch for hours, then happily trot back over for pets and cuddles once he's gotten some energy out. Staff and volunteers describe him as easy to leash, fun to spend time with, and full of personality. He loves to run, play, and stay engaged with his people, often checking back in for attention between zoomies in the yard. Asphalt is very food motivated, takes treats gently, and responds well to redirection, especially when excitement gets the better of him. While he can be jumpy and pulls on leash at times, he's eager to interact and improves with patience, structure, and continued positive reinforcement. He has met several other dogs at the shelter and enjoys active, rowdy play, but can get a bit pushy and overexcited, so he may do best with tolerant dogs who can match his energy. Asphalt would thrive in an active home that can give him plenty of playtime, continued structure, and lots of opportunities to burn energy before settling in for affection and cuddles. Due to his behavioral concerns, Asphalt is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner or experienced adopter.
