Meet Rey, a sweet 8-year-old black cat hoping to find her forever home. She enjoys pets and the company of people but is not a fan of other cats. Rey was sadly recently returned after her family moved and Rey struggled with the transition/stress of the move, peeing outside the litterbox. Since coming back to the shelter, Rey was started on Fluoxetine to help with stress and has now been using the litterbox here. It appears to be a situation where the stress from the move and being at the shelter causes issues with inappropriate urination. Our vets ruled out a UTI and did imaging of the bladder to make sure there weren't stones/crystals, and all looked normal. Rey is looking for a foster-to-adopt home that can continue her Fluoxetine, which is applied to her ear once a day. She may be able to wean off of the Fluoxetine once adjusted to a home, but stressful situations may cause a recurrence.
