Brennan β Looks Intimidating, Startles at Leaves, Wants to Watch TV With You. Brennan would like you to know that he is a very serious, very tough dog. He would like you to know that, and then approximately two seconds later something in his peripheral vision will startle him so completely that he forgets he was trying to be intimidating and just becomes a large, wide-eyed baby who needs a moment to collect himself. The leaf was not a threat, Brennan. It never is. He is working through it. At about a year and a half old, Brennan is best understood as a very big feelings dog in a very large body. He is enthusiastic, he is goofy, he is occasionally convinced that the world contains dangers that it does not actually contain, and he wants nothing more than to be near his person on a soft surface for an extended period of time. The chaos is mostly surface level. Underneath it is just a soft, sensitive boy who has not yet had quite enough stability and reassurance to fully trust that everything is going to be okay β but he is getting there, and watching him get there is genuinely something. He is non-destructive, which given his energy might surprise you but is absolutely true. He does not destroy toys, does not destroy stuffies, and does not destroy your belongings. He is potty trained in his kennel and dog friendly with proper introductions. What he is not, despite all appearances, is actually a wrecking ball. He is just a little dramatic. There is a difference and Brennan would appreciate you recognizing it. He craves comfort, reassurance, and the specific kind of love that says "you are safe here and also please stop barking at the recycling bin." He wants a couch, a person, and a life calm enough that he can finally stop being on high alert about absolutely everything and just be a dog for a while. Brennan is not for someone who needs a chill, unbothered dog right out of the gate. He is for someone who finds a dramatic, sensitive, leaf-fearing goofball completely endearing β because that person is going to watch this boy slowly relax into himself and feel like they had everything to do with it. They will not be wrong. Adoption is $275, which includes spay/neuter at our vet, vaccines, dewormer, microchip, and clean bill of health. Although we work to potty train all of our dogs, we cannot guarantee full house training before adoption. Regression is a normal part of transitioning to a new home.
