He is a handsome boy with a rich black and tan coat, tall alert ears, and the kind of soft, soulful eyes that are hard to look away from. Prince is here through no fault of his own — his owner is facing heart surgery and was unable to keep him. This sweet, beautiful boy simply needs a new place to call home. Prince is good with dogs and good with children, and he already knows how to sit and stay for a treat — which tells you he has been loved and worked with. He would do best in a home without cats, where he can settle in and feel secure. At 61 pounds, he is lean and elegant — a well-proportioned, striking dog who carries himself with quiet dignity. Prince is understandably confused and scared right now. The life he knew has changed suddenly and without explanation, and he is doing his best to make sense of it all. That look in his eyes is not a character flaw — it is a dog who misses his person and is trying to find his footing. With patience, consistency, and kindness, Prince will begin to understand that he is safe. Prince deserves someone who will look at that worried, handsome face and feel nothing but the desire to reassure him. He is sweet, he is trained, he is good with kids and other dogs, and he has so much love left to give. All he needs is a home that will be his — for keeps, this time.
