My name is Annie and I was named after Annie Chambers who ran a brothel and then a Christian boarding house in the River Market area of Kansas City. I got the name because I was found as a stray in the River Market area and I had a litter of three babies that I had given birth to in the basement of an old brick building that was inaccessible to the people who were trying to help me. If you follow "Pot Roast's Mom" on social media, you can see my story on her posts! PRM and others spent MONTHS feeding me and waiting for my babies to make an appearance. Just when they decided to trap me, thinking my kittens must have died because it had been so long since I'd given birth, I decided to bring my kids out of the dirty basement and show them to the nice people who wanted to make sure we all had safe, indoor homes. They managed to catch two of my kids but the third one was more shy and didn't want to come out into the open. They left me with her so she would be safe, and after many days, they managed to trap my last baby and get me into a warm foster home. When I was spayed, the vet took a metal pellet out of my back - someone had shot at me and the pellet was embedded right under the surface of my skin. :-( I am much happier now that I don't have to have more babies and because I've been spoiled at my foster home. I don't love being picked up, but I will come and sit with you for pets and I'm pretty sure once I get to know you better, I'll relax even more and lean into the spoiled life of a house kitty.
