This sweet little guy has already been through more than most dogs his age, and he's looking for a calm, patient foster home where he can finally start to feel safe. At just 1 year old, this Maltese boy is learning what it means to be cared for. He came into the shelter with severe matting and a serious injury to his left front leg, including a wound and fracture. He's on the road to healing now and is doing great with eating (he loves his chicken and rice!) and resting, but he still needs help continuing his recovery. He's a sensitive pup who is very under-socialized and easily overwhelmed, so right now the world feels like a scary place. Because of this, he can be reactive when handled-he's not trying to be difficult, just trying to protect himself. With time, patience, and a quiet environment, he has the potential to build trust and show his true personality. He's not ready for playgroups or busy environments yet-what he needs most is stability, gentle care, and someone who understands that progress may be slow but meaningful. Despite everything he's been through, he's already showing resilience. With the right foster, this little dog has a real chance to heal-both physically and emotionally-and eventually become a wonderful companion.
