About Chucky

Chucky is an active, five-year-old Golden Retriever looking for a dog-savvy, experienced home. He thrives on play, especially games of fetch, and he shines when he has a ball to chase. While he’s never lived with other pets, Chucky enjoys the company of people, but can become unpredictable or overly protective if he feels threatened. He can be pushy and reactive with other dogs if his boundaries aren’t respected. Because of this, Chucky shouldn’t go to a home with children or other pets. His leash skills need work, and he’s strong—but if given a chance to settle in, he relaxes nicely on walks. Chucky is currently on fluoxetine (doggie prozac) to help manage his reactivity, and two professional behaviorists believe he has the potential to flourish with proper handling and training. Arizona Golden Rescue will cover a professional board-and-train program for adopters who are committed to his follow-up lessons. Chucky isn’t neutered yet, but the rescue will handle that soon. If you have the patience, experience, and commitment to help Chucky succeed, he could be the right fit for your home. Give them the home they have been waiting for. Apply today.
