Meet Jairo: your new little shadow Jairo is a 6-year-old, 14 lb dachshund mix from Tijuana with a heart of gold and adorable, stubby legs. He's the definition of a velcro dog — happiest when he's by your side, whether you're on the couch, working from home, or just moving from room to room. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will truly bond with you, Jairo is your guy. One of Jairo's most charming features? His tail is always wagging — a constant little signal of just how happy he is to be near his people. And when it's time to sleep, he puts on quite a show. Jairo is a big dreamer. You'll often catch him kicking his legs or letting out tiny barks and howls in his sleep. It's equal parts hilarious and endearing. When he's awake, though, he's actually a very quiet, easygoing presence in the home. He's settled beautifully into city life and takes it all in stride. Jairo is getting used to walking on a leash, is fully housetrained, and gets along well with the resident dog in his foster home. That said, he'd also be perfectly content soaking up all the love as a solo pup. Jairo isn't much for toys, but he more than makes up for it with affection. He'll happily trade fetch for snuggles any day. He doesn't have formal training yet, but he's a well-mannered little guy who's ready to learn with the right guidance and consistency. Like many devoted dogs, Jairo does experience separation anxiety when left alone. He'll need a patient, committed adopter who's willing to help him build confidence and feel secure on his own over time. And while his short legs are incredibly cute, they do come with a little limitation — very steep stairs can be a challenge for him. But honestly, that just adds to his charm (and gives you an excuse to scoop him up). Jairo is looking for a home where he can be loved, included, and with a spot in your bed reserved for him. In return, he'll give you unwavering companionship and a best friend who never wants to leave your side. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella, heartworm negative, microchipped and neutered. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Jairo, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal.
