AvailableAbout Festus
Festus: The Ohio Out-of-Towner Festus has officially traded the buckeye life for the indoor life. Rescued from the wilds of Ohio, this medium-haired grey gentleman realized pretty quickly that "nature" has way too many bugs and not nearly enough temperature-controlled napping spots. The Profile The Look: A lush, medium-length grey coat that says "I’m sophisticated," even when he’s chasing a feather wand like a maniac. The Personality: Aggressively friendly. Festus doesn't understand the concept of "personal space" or "stranger danger." The Social Circle: He’s a total diplomat. He loves other cats and is so chill he’d likely give a dog a passing grade, too. Why Festus? Interstate Excellence: He’s an import with a heart of gold. All-Access Pass: Whether you have a feline crew, a canine companion, or just a lonely couch, Festus will fit right in. Professional Purrer: He’s been practicing his motor skills since he crossed the state line. If you’re looking for a low-drama, high-fuzz roommate who treats everyone like an old friend, Festus is ready to unpack his bags. He’s done with the Ohio outdoors; he’s just here for the indoor luxury now. Are you tired of filling out the long applications? Did no one get back to you? If they did, was the cat was already adopted? Email SOS at saveourstrays.pgh@gmail.com or call/text (412) 863-0064 to arrange your visit. We do things the way we want to here at Save Our Strays. We are very prompt with responding and appointments. You do not have to wait for your application to go through to come and visit. We have a contract you sign, upon adoption. Since 2020, SOS has rescued and adopted more than 1,500 stray cats in the Pittsburgh area. Included in our adoption fee is full vetting. All of our cats are fixed, dewormed, have received Capstar for any flea issues and NEXGUARD COMBO for any parasites, received two FVRCP vaccines as well as their rabies vaccine (3lbs +), are treated for ear mites (if needed), are combo tested for FeLV and FIV(negative), and are microchipped- which will transfer to you. Once the adult cats are fully vetted and vaccinated, they freely roam across two floors and (Pittsburgh weather permitting…) also spend time in an outside Catio to soak up the sunshine. I will tell you all my same spiel I tell everyone else, if you adopt from us. Do not declaw your cat, if the cat is sick- have enough money to take them to the vet. If you ever need me, call me. We talk to you and ask questions ourselves and we know the cats well. If we think it is not going to work out, we will let you know. Everyone who is able and willing, deserves the companionship of a cat. It's an art that we have purfected here! Most of the cats are in the shelter, all in one place. We take you around to the different rooms and then you & yours can go and visit where you want too. Seems simple right? Well, it is! Bring your own carrier just encase you do pick a new BFF. All you have to do is schedule an appointment. During your visit, feel free to spend time with the cat you want to meet, but also take a look around. We always have cats with a wide variety of ages, coat patterns/lengths, and personalities. High energy antics? You bet. Couch potatoes? Check. Sweet, purring snugglers? Roger that. And please don’t overlook the shy wallflower who keeps glancing your way—introverts need love too. Often times, a cat is simply overwhelmed with their new rescue environment and will blossom in a calmer home environment. SOS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our adoption fee, along with donations, allow us to tend to our rescued cats in the manner in which they deserve: fully vetted and fully cared for. We also allocate funds to continue TNR (trap, neuter, and release) efforts for all of the strays who are too unsocialized and human-adverse for an indoor home. By spaying/neutering, these cats live a healthier life and no longer contribute to increasing the stray cat population. When you adopt a cat from SOS, you’re doing more than giving a cat a good home. You’re also helping those stray cats who cannot be homed. One cat’s adoption improves multiple cats’ lives. Email SOS at saveourstrays.pgh@gmail.com or call/text (412) 863-0064 to arrange your visit. Your new best friend is waiting for you
