About Willie

Meet Willie — our adventurous “Duck Commander” who found himself in a bit of trouble. Our officers received a call from his finder after Willie was attempting to hunt her ducks. When our Animal Control Officer arrived, Willie wasn’t too eager to be caught, but with reassurance from his finder, he eventually allowed her to coax him to the truck and was brought safely to the shelter. He was not microchipped, and no family came forward during his stray hold, so Willie is now ready for a new beginning and a home of his own. He’ll work on curbing his interest in duck hunting unless, of course, his new family shares the same hobby! At the shelter, Willie has shown us what a good dog he is. He has been easy to leash, walk, and remove from his kennel — a big improvement from the nervous pup we first met. He also met another dog and did well, allowing her to sniff him while happily wagging his tail. His nose was most interested in the surrounding environment, clearly loving the outdoors. Willie is also a calm boy who would enjoy relaxing on the couch with his family. Because he was a stray, we do not know how he is with cats or children. We recommend meet-and-greets with other dogs and children prior to adoption.
