About Babe Ruth

Babe Ruth A184204 46 lb. neutered male, approx 3 years old -He's the kind of dog who just needs a little time to figure things out--and once he does, you can see the sweet, playful personality underneath starting to shine. -When we first met, he seemed unsure about attention, like it's something he hasn't had much experience with before. At times he didn't quite know what to do with pets or closeness, but the longer we spent together, the more he settled in and leaned into it. By the end, he was clearly enjoying the connection. -He's very food motivated and already knows how to sit, taking treats gently and politely. He also has a fun, playful side and enjoys toys. When he gets excited, he can be a little clumsy with affection--pushing in close or bouncing around--but he responded well to gentle guidance and quickly started to understand boundaries. -He may be a bit sensitive to quick movements, especially over his head, and will do best with someone who moves at his pace and helps build his confidence. Once he realizes he's safe, he relaxes and starts to enjoy the attention, even leaning in for more. -He walks nicely on leash with minimal pulling and seems eager to learn. With a patient, understanding home, he's going to blossom into a really special companion who just needed someone to show him the way. -Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids *Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt *Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment. *Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in. *There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption. *To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering. **And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.** *The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30 **1431 E Ferry St. Detroit
