Though her coat had to be shaved, it is growing back soft and shiny.

About Burgess

Meet Burgess, affectionately called “Burgy.” She’s spent her life in a hoarding situation until recently, so the wider world still feels new and a bit overwhelming. In just a month of foster care, she’s shown quiet determination—learning what it means to feel safe and discovering the joys of being a dog, especially when it comes to going for walks. Burgess is completely new to so many things, but she’s shown how resilient she can be. She picked up house training right away—no accidents—and now sleeps soundly in her crate through the night, though she’d be just as happy to curl up beside you if invited. Dogs are Burgess’s comfort. Big or small, she warms up and wants to join their company. Because of this, she’ll need a home with at least one other dog who can help her continue to gain confidence. People, especially children, are still a challenge for her—she’ll need a home without kids, or with calm teens who can respect her need for space. If you give Burgess time, she’ll slowly come to you, often melting into your lap if treats are involved. She had to be shaved due to mats, but her soft coat is coming back in nicely. Burgess needs a patient, understanding home prepared for a couple weeks of quiet settling in. When she trusts you, she’ll stick to you loyally—a true companion. Watching her open up is rewarding in itself, and she’s just getting started on her new path. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
