Ziggy
AvailableAbout Ziggy
When Ziggy first arrived, he was very scared and hesitant to be held by most people. He also showed some signs of aggression toward other dogs, especially larger ones. Since then, he has made great progress, he's now comfortable with all the humans in his foster home and has adjusted well to the other dogs, even the bigger ones! Ziggy absolutely loves his foster mom and enjoys cuddling on the couch with her. He's also starting to get comfortable snuggling up with the other dogs in the house. His playful personality is beginning to shine through, and he is so much fun. While he's still recovering and can't fully play just yet, he enjoys going outside to explore and soak up the sun. We can't wait to see his full personality once he's cleared for activity! Ziggy would do best in a home where someone is around most of the day, as he doesn't like being left alone. He would enjoy having another small dog to play with, but he could also thrive as the only dog as long as he gets plenty of attention. He absolutely loves his human foster sister who is 16 years old, but we do not know how he would do with children who are younger. He is potty trained, crate trained, and sleeps through the night. Ziggy is a 7 month old, 7 lb, Chihuahua/Yorkie Mix (our best guess). We are dedicated to rescuing dogs in shelters, dogs in abusive or neglectful situations, and dogs surrendered by their owners because of difficult circumstances. We place dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process, which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives. Dogs in our care are spayed or neutered, microchipped, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes. We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. Dogs in the greatest need take priority. Finally, we strive to work with shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless dogs.
