Raspberry is a dog who was transported to VEG in Dallas for further evaluation due to worsening leukocytosis. Diagnostic testing revealed infectious pneumonia on thoracic radiographs. An abdominal ultrasound identified a small amount of uterine fluid, raising concern for possible pyometra, though this has not been definitively confirmed. Additionally, vulvar discharge was noted, and cytology showed abundant neutrophils and bacteria, further supporting concern for an underlying infectious process. Raspberry’s condition is complex and requires advanced diagnostics, close monitoring, and ongoing medical management, which exceed what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment. Despite these concerns, Raspberry is doing her best while receiving supportive care. Raspberry needs a safe, compassionate placement where she can receive continued veterinary evaluation, treatment, and monitoring to address these serious medical concerns.
