She was surrendered due to behavior and later returned after five months in a home, but the team at DuPage County has seen firsthand just how affectionate and sweet she truly is. Sometimes, the wrong environment can bring out stress behaviors... but that does not define who Mandy is. When given the right space and understanding, Mandy shows her true self, a gentle, loving companion who wants connection just as much as any other cat. She has so much love to give, but she needs someone who is willing to be patient, to listen to her needs, and to allow her to settle in at her own pace. Cats like Mandy don’t need perfection, they need compassion and consistency. Mandy would do best as the only pet in the home, where she can feel secure and not overwhelmed by other animals. A calm, structured environment will allow her to decompress and rebuild trust. Proper introductions and slow transitions are essential, especially for cats who have experienced multiple changes, as it helps prevent stress and allows their true personality to come through. She is currently at PetSmart in Naperville, waiting for someone who will see beyond her past and choose her for the loving cat she truly is.
