Meet Cheesesteak (ACCT-A-248079)! This sweet girl was found as a stray and is looking for a patient, loving home where she can truly shine. Cheesesteak is a sensitive soul who can be a little unsure in new environments, but she warms up beautifully once she knows she is safe. She has the most expressive, soft eyes and a loose, wiggly body when she's happy. Once she gets to know you, she is an absolute cuddle bug-she loves to lean right into your legs for pets and affection. On the leash, Cheesesteak is a dream to get out of her kennel. She generally walks well on a loose leash, though she might give a mild tug when she's excited to explore the great outdoors. She is also very treat-motivated! While she is eager to learn, she can sometimes be a little "snatchy" when taking treats because she's so excited, so using an open palm for snacks is the best way to keep things easy for everyone. When it comes to other dogs, Cheesesteak is a bit of a shy flower. She has been a little nervous around high-energy or "pushy" dogs and tends to retreat to her person when she feels overwhelmed. She would likely do best with a very calm, relaxed canine companion or as the pampered solo queen of her household. Took a treat a little snatchy. Leash Skills: Easy to leash, hopped right out. Walked with ears back, loose body, tail low. Walked on a loose leash in kennels, once outside pulled mildly. Sociability: Allowed all handling and leaned into pets with soft eyes, ears back, loose body, low to mid tail wags. Knows it and takes treat snatchy so open palm is best! Play: n/a Dog Interaction: Met Labello, high tail, ears forward, tense body. Sniffed then when Labello turned towards her quickly she retreated to her handler. Return to Kennel: Walked back pulling mildly, stopped for a second outside her kennel then went right in, leash was removed easily. Color Level: Gold. Per staff 4/23: Easy to leash and came right out. Met Zeus - was nervous, with stiff tail wags and ears back, but was leaning forward and did not move away at first. She sniffed him from behind. Zeus was a bit pushy and eventually became looser, but did move away and did not really want to reengage. Could benefit from another meet with a calmer, less pushy dog.
