Updated 12Oct25 Meet Shelby - Sweet, Shy, and Full of Potential! Shelby is a petite little sweetheart, weighing just under 30 lbs right now. She's still young and a bit underweight, so we expect her to fill out to around 40 lbs once she's healthy and settled. This beautiful girl was surrendered as a stray and is truly a sweetie pie. When MAS first met her during her photo session, she had to be gently carried out of her kennel - a little unsure of the big world around her - but she quickly melted hearts with her kind eyes and gentle spirit. Shelby is friendly with people, though she can be easily overwhelmed by new surroundings. When she's nervous, she tends to tuck her tail and "pancake" low to the ground, but once she feels safe, her whole body transforms into happy wiggles and soft kisses. She's learning leash manners and doing a great job, though she's still getting the hang of it. She's also learning to play fetch - and she even lets you take the ball straight from her mouth like the polite girl she is! Shelby can be timid with new people at first, but she warms up quickly, especially when treats or cuddles are involved. She's greeted other dogs through the fence with friendly curiosity and would likely enjoy a calm, confident canine friend to help show her the ropes. With a little patience, reassurance, and love, Shelby will blossom into the confident, joyful dog she's meant to be. She's already a staff favorite at MAS - and once you meet her, you'll understand why!
