Fernando, the Morkie, was an owner surrender that arrived into our rescue in April. This cutie was originally purchased from puppy mill, but sadly the family is no longer able to care for him and his sibling, so they did the right thing and surrendered them to the rescue. Fernando is working on becoming housebroken, and although there are still a few accidents here and there, he is willing to try his best as he navigates his new life in his foster home. He does not enjoy being crated during the day, but will sleep peacefully in his crate at nighttime. He does well on leash, and enjoys going for walks for the fresh air and the exercise. Fernando, with his healthy palette, currently eats nutri source 1/4 of a cup twice a day with vital essentials chicken freeze dried Patties and a bit of Answers goat milk. He enjoys a good tug-o-war with his rope toys and resident pup siblings, but also likes to play with his stuffies as well. In new social interactions, Fernando is still cautious and needs time to trust you. However, he loves just being around his family and resident pup siblings alike. He is good with dogs and kids, so a family with either pups or kiddos would be ideal for him. Some super cute traits that the foster family shared about Fernando: 1. When coming down the stairs, he loves to jump off before getting to the last stair. 2. When talking to him or saying his name he tilts his head acting as if he knows what youre saying. Fernando <span style="font-weight: 400;">is not yet neutered, but is starting the process of getting his vaccinations. The good news is that because we are a licensed, registered 501(c)3 rescue with the state of NJ, he is eligible to be neutered for just $20 with proof of adoption (adoption contract) through the NJ Low Cost Spay/Neuter Grant Program. It's super-easy, just present our contract at a participating vet and make the neuter appt!
