Meet Powder, a striking and intelligent pup who has been thriving in foster care since October 2025. With his curious mind and loyal nature, Powder is the kind of dog who forms a deep bond with his people and truly becomes part of the family. Powder is a quiet companion in the home, though he will alert you if strangers approach. In the car, he can be more vocal when noticing unfamiliar people or dogs, showing his attentive and protective side. He’s incredibly smart, eager to learn, and responds well to redirection, making him a great candidate for continued training. He does wonderfully with other dogs and would do best with an active canine companion who can match his energy and play style. Powder loves to engage and play, though he may be a bit too enthusiastic for older or more laid-back dogs. Due to his strong prey drive, he is not a fit for homes with cats or small animals. Powder is house-trained, uses a dog door, and has excellent manners when left alone—he’s been trusted for up to five hours without issue. He sleeps soundly through the night on his bed or the couch and is generally a calm, respectful housemate. While not crate-trained, he has proven he doesn’t need one in the right environment. He enjoys the occasional squeaky ball but especially loves chewing on durable items like moose antlers. Like many clever dogs, he may get into things if given the opportunity—trash should be secured, and clothing kept off the floor, as he’s been known to investigate (and sometimes chew) unattended items. Powder is wary of strangers and will need slow, positive introductions—especially with people who don’t have dogs. He hasn’t been around small children and may be reactive, so a home without young kids is recommended. He can also be unsure of certain things like vacuum cleaners and would benefit from gentle exposure to new experiences, including gradual introductions to environments like the vet’s office. On leash, Powder is improving every day, though he can pull strongly if he spots wildlife—another sign of his high prey drive. He does, however, ride beautifully in the car and has handled long trips with ease. Described as inquisitive, loving, sweet, and highly trainable, Powder is a dog with incredible potential. He would thrive in a calm home with a committed family, plenty of structure, and ideally another playful dog. He’s looking for someone who will continue to guide him, build his confidence, and give him the stable, loving home he deserves.
