Dottie is the sole survivor of a litter that was, you guessed it, dumped on a rural road and left to die. Tragically, all of her siblings were hit by cars before help could be found. A very kind family was able to keep her safe until we found a foster for her. She has been extremely nervous so far, which is understandable since she had never been inside a house before and everything—and everyone—in her foster home is brand new. The good news is that in less than 24 hours, she already trusts and adores her foster mom. She is starting to warm up to her foster dad as well, but that progress is coming much more slowly. Dottie is about 6 months old and weighs 38 lbs. We know a lot of dogs have that “Dalmatian look,” but in her case, we actually think she may truly be part Dalmatian. She loves other dogs and is still figuring out how she feels about cats. Even better—she hasn’t had a single accident inside since arriving, which is pretty amazing for a puppy in a brand-new environment. She is scheduled to be spayed on Tuesday, May 5, and will be able to leave for her new home once she recovers.
