Meet Chalupa: Chalupa is estimated to be about a 1 year old (as of May 2026) mini poodle mix (best guess) that weighs only about 14 pounds. Chalupa was a stray on the streets of Memphis for quite some time before being turned into the Memphis Animal Shelter. The people that brought her in said it seemed as though she may be hurt. Our rescue took her in prepared to deal with whatever medical issues needed attention, but it turned out that the vet couldn't find any and she just seemed to need a haircut and love. Chalupa is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Chalupa is a sweet and affectionate girl! Chalupa can only be described as a velcro dog - she never wants to leave your side and can't ever seem to get close enough to you. Chalupa is as sweet as can be and loves to snuggle. While Chalupa was initially identified as a mop with 4 legs, after a lot of grooming it was revealed there was a poodle underneath all that matted hair. She is so much happier to be groomed and cared for. Chalupa is currently using a doggie door and may need some patience as she adjusts to a new house training method. We would love for Chalupa to have a home with a fenced in yard so she can play freely, but it is not a requirement. Chalupa is up to date on her shots and is spayed.
