At about five and a half years old, he hits the sweet spotāhe knows his way around a home but hasnāt lost his sense of humor or playfulness. He sports a salt-and-pepper face and soft short fur that practically demands to be petted, plus an easygoing charm that comes out a little more each day. Tom earns his pro snuggler badge daily and fits the definition of a cuddle bug. Youāll often find him leaning against you, toting his favorite toy, or making sure the sofa never sits empty. This is a dog whose loyalty means youāll never have to look far to find himāheās by your side by default. He recently spent a day out with the rescueās Director of Behavior and met her two young childrenāTom handled it smoothly, giving affection to the 5-year-old and being gentler with the 3-year-old. Nothing fazed him: not car rides, new people, or noisy environments. Once helped into the car, he settled in and enjoyed the adventure. Tomās signature move? Rolling over for belly rubs and melting into anyoneās arms, leaving a stream of fans in his wake. People kept asking if he was a Teddy Bearāitās no stretch, between his thick coat, soft fur, and contagious smile. Tom went to the vet and showed perfect manners, tolerating exams calmly and ignoring other dogs. At doggy daycare, he impressed staff with his steady, happy attitude around polite dogs and relaxed people. He likes stable or moderate energy playmates and doesnāt rush into new dog friendships, but once heās comfortable, heās happy to play. Tom is fine as the only dog at home too.
