He is gentle-lead trained and comes when called. He is currently fostered with a loving couple, and often times his foster mom feels like a third wheel lol. Once dad is home, he is all about dad! His foster mom works from home, and he hangs at her feet or around the house while she works, patiently waiting for dad to come home. Home Depot trips? Easy. Neighborhood walks? Loves them. Loud trucks, motorcycles, thunder, fireworks? Doesn’t care. He’s calm, confident, and will alert you to new people or dogs and then settle. JJ gets his confidence from his #1! He will trust you to guide him on all of these adventures. At home, he is fully potty trained and crate trained, so JJ can free-roam without causing trouble. He’s respectful of space, not destructive, doesn’t resource guard, and sleeps quietly through the night. He’s affectionate without being pushy, loyal without being clingy. Just a dang good dog. JJ is currently thriving with a large male Lab best friend and a playful small dog, but he’d be just as happy as a one-man, one-dog companion. He’s best suited for an adult home or one with calm older teens; and due to his prey drive, a cat-free home is ideal. JJ isn’t clingy. He’s loyal. He’s not loud. He’s steady. He’s not complicated. Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded. It doesn’t stop there!
