Penelope
AvailableAbout Penelope
We advise all adopters to expect the 3-3-3 rule as a general guideline for introducing a pet to the home: 3 days to decompress (will show nervousness, hiding, reduced appetite), 3 weeks to settle into a routine (beginning to explore and showing personality), and 3 months to build trust and feel fully comfortable in their new home. This period may be longer for shy or extremely scared animals. After being seized by Animal Control for living in a filthy crate on porch, Penelope needs an understanding home that will help her open up to her full potential. She (understandably) hates being confined and will do best in a home geared to house training in other ways beyond the crate. Penelope would do best in a home without children as she was never taught not to use her mouth to show her opinions. An experienced dog home used to gentle training and reinforcement of good behavior is ideal for this poor girl who has never before been taught right from wrong.
