Adira is a young, medium-sized mixed breed (White German Shepherd and Husky) with a white and cream medium-length coat. She is a spayed female and currently located in Silver Spring, MD. Adira is not yet house trained, but her vaccinations are up to date. She enjoys the company of other dogs but does not get along with cats.

About Adira

Adira came to the rescue underweight at just 25lbs, when she should have been closer to 60lbs, and dealing with heartworm disease. Now nearly finished with her heartworm treatment, she’s looking for a calm place to finish healing and get back to her playful self. Adira adores other dogs and truly needs a home with a canine buddy—she’ll soak up time with her dog friends as soon as she’s allowed more activity. Right now, she has to stay quiet, but you can tell she’s ready for more fun. Affection comes easy to Adira. She’s quick to snuggle up close on the couch or lean against your legs, totally at home in your company. Social and friendly, Adira just wants to be part of the action—whether you’re cooking dinner or watching TV, she’ll be right there, eager not to miss a moment. She’s smart, motivated by food, and eager to please, making her very trainable, especially once her energy is back up. She’s crate trained and sleeps through the night, though you might hear a song or two if she feels left out at bedtime. Give her something to chew and she settles in well. Adira is likely not the best match for apartment life, given her need for company and tendency to vocalize when left alone. Cats are not her favorite, so a feline-free home suits her best. If you’re ready to add a second dog and want a kind, loyal companion, Adira’s waiting to meet you. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Adira

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Adira, as a White German Shepherd/Husky mix, does best in a home with an active family and space to move around. She’s not ideal for apartment life, especially since she can be vocal and needs companionship.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Adira’s breeds typically thrive with a yard or regular outdoor access. A fenced yard allows her to safely play and expend energy once she finishes her heartworm recovery.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Both White German Shepherds and Huskies are usually great with kids when well socialized. Adira would likely fit nicely in a family with children who understand how to interact respectfully with dogs.
