About Adira

Adira came to us from a shelter where she was found as a stray. She was only 25lbs when she should have been closer to 60lb. She tested heartworm positive and is currently undergoing heartworm treatment. She is between 1 and 1.5 years old. She is the sweetest girl. Adira is a super affectionate girl who wants nothing more than to be right by your side. She is very social and is immediately best friends with everyone she meets. If you're sitting she melts into your lap ready for pets and attention. She is a velcro dog and wants to follow you around to make sure she's not missing out on anything. Cooking dinner? She's there! Watching Tv? She's already next to you asking for pets! She’s a smart cookie and very food motivated, which makes her eager to learn and a great candidate for training. Adira genuinely wants to please and picks things up quickly. She is crate trained and sleeps through the night but she may sing the song of her people at first to let you know she still exists and would like to be included. (hello, FOMO 😄). Give her a Kong and she settles in nicely, but apartment living may not be for her. She is dog friendly and does well living with her dog buddies. Since she is currently undergoing heartworm treatment which requires strict rest she can't play as much as she would like to but she is very playful. Adira is a super sweet dog who wants to soak up all the love she can get. Adoption can take place while undergoing heartworm treatment as long as the dog finishes the treatment at our vet. She has to finish her heartworm treatment at one of our partner vet locations in either Burtonsville, MD or Rockville/Silver Spring, MD. Heartworm treatment requires strict crate rest. Adira would love to be running around, but that won’t happen for at least a month after the treatment is done.
