About Valero
Meet Valero—Val for short—a two-year-old neutered German Shepherd mix whose entire story is one of grit and transformation. Val was once fighting to survive outside a gas station, dangerously thin, nursing a bad eye infection, and limping. Now, he's 54 pounds of health and resilience, looking for a permanent place to call home in Tomball, TX. Val strikes a near-perfect balance between play and relaxation. He loves being outside: exploring, chasing a ball (bringing it back, not so much), and splashing in the creek behind his foster home. When adventure winds down, he melts for belly rubs and settles in for a cozy nap. His house manners are superb—no accidents, content in his crate at night, and a steady companion for car rides and errands. He shares his foster home with four cats and three dogs of all sizes. Val's gentle with the resident cats and gets along with other dogs. He’s done well with older kids, especially meeting them on walks where he enjoys their attention. On leash, he walks nicely and gets a little anxious passing unfamiliar dogs, but a quick treat and gentle redirection help him regain confidence. Affection runs deep in Val. His journey has shaped him into a forgiving, adaptable companion who loves being near people. He's microchipped, neutered, vaccinated, and ready to step into a new life with a family who will cherish him for the dog he is. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
