Gary
AvailableGary is a Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier mix in Yakima, WA. He is an adult, medium-sized, neutered male ready for a new home.
About Gary
Gary's adoption fee is fully sponsored. Gary is a one-year-old Retriever/Pit mix who weighs about 45 pounds and is best described as athletic and eager to learn. He is still new to much of what life has to offer—sometimes confused or overstimulated by unfamiliar situations, mostly because he missed out on early socialization. Gary's a dog who wants to get things right and, with some patient guidance, really starts to shine. He is a bit unsure with other dogs at first and may come off defensive, but with reassurance, he usually adjusts and can enjoy being around them. He would also be content as the only dog in the household. Gary thrives on attention and loves working with people who give him direction. He's highly responsive to structure and positive feedback, and his bond with his handler will only deepen over time. If you enjoy training and building a strong one-on-one relationship, Gary is primed to become a loyal, devoted companion. Gary does not get along with cats. He’ll do best with an adopter ready to provide consistency, structure, and affection so he can continue to blossom. They are waiting with paws crossed! Apply now!

Questions about Gary
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Gary, being a Retriever/Pit Bull Terrier mix, generally does well in homes where he gets daily activity and interactive time. These breeds adapt to both houses and apartments, provided there’s regular exercise and enrichment.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Gary would benefit from access to a yard or regular trips to parks, but most Retriever/Pit mixes can thrive without one if they get enough walks and playtime. What's key is daily exercise and opportunities to burn off energy.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Retriever and Pit Bull Terrier mixes like Gary can be good with children, especially if socialized and supervised correctly. They tend to be loyal and playful, though interactions with younger kids should be monitored as with any medium-sized, active dog.
