About Almondin Va
Almond is a small, white Miniature Schnauzer with some chocolate highlights and a docked tail, currently living with a foster in Roanoke, Virginia. At about 3 to 4 years old, he’s neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. Almond knows his basic commands and has had obedience training—sit, lay down, go potty, and go to bed are all in his repertoire. He’s housebroken, crate trained, and leash trained, too. His history includes a tough adjustment to a new family dynamic after being the primary companion to his original owner. Almond bonded closely to the woman in the home but grew uneasy around her husband and, eventually, their young child. He interacts well with other dogs and typically doesn’t mind cats. Just as important, Almond lights up in all-female environments, so a home with women is strongly preferred for him to thrive. He’s looking for someone who will treat him as a true family member and offer his next chapter the stability and attention he’s missed. Almond is fostered in Roanoke, VA, and adopters must be willing to travel there for pickup. Click apply to start the adoption process.

Questions about Almondin Va
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Miniature Schnauzers like Almond do best in homes where they’re treated as true companions and included in daily life. They adapt well to both apartments and houses as long as their need for attention and activity is met.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Almond and his Schnauzer peers enjoy regular walks and play time, but they don’t require a large yard. A fenced area helps, though daily walks are just as important for their energy and mental stimulation.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Generally, Miniature Schnauzers get along with respectful children, but Almond thrives best in a quieter, all-female environment. Because of his specific history, a household without young or boisterous kids is preferred.
