This sweet face here is Abby! Abby is a fun, energetic girl who is still learning how to properly “speak dog”—but her heart is 100% in the right place! In new environments like PetSmart, Abby can come across a little loud and reactive—she tends to bark at other dogs when she first sees them. However, once she’s in a safe, off-leash setting, her true personality shines. In a small training class, after the initial excitement, she happily romps and plays with the other dogs. She’s also had successful one-on-one playdates. A neighbor recently brought his dog over after hearing Abby needed socialization, and it was a big success—Abby played joyfully and had a great time. Abby often barks at dogs with a wagging tail—she wants to play, she just doesn’t always communicate it in the typical way. But once playtime begins, she’s all in and absolutely loves it! Because of this, Abby would likely thrive in a home with another friendly, well-adjusted dog who can help show her the ropes and model good dog behavior. She has a lot of energy and would benefit from a companion to help her get the exercise and social interaction she needs to feel balanced and happy.
