About Maverick

This could be the start of something paw-some. Maverick is a tiny survivor with a huge heart. This 8–10 year old, approximately 10-pound Yorkie mix has made remarkable progress since being adopted from a local shelter in October 2024. Originally found weighing just 6.7 lbs, Maverick has blossomed into a healthy, happy companion ready to embrace his next adventure. He’s a neutered, housetrained boy who communicates his needs clearly—Maverick will let you know when it’s time for a potty break with a polite whine or bark, so there’s no guessing involved. Currently living with a 10-year-old Husky, he enjoys playful moments but sometimes prefers his own space. He has also interacted well with other dogs during boarding, making him a lovely fit for a home with another friendly canine. Maverick’s ideal family will not include cats and should have either adults or older children (12+) who can offer patience and continued love and stability. His current family loves him deeply but is seeking a safer, quieter home for Maverick due to life changes and frequent visits from young grandchildren. Maverick deserves to keep thriving and to find the security and affection he’s worked so hard for. To help with his transition, his family will provide all of his belongings. He’s overcome so much already—now he’s ready to find a forever home where he feels cherished and safe. Think you are the one? Submit an application!

Questions about Maverick

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

This breed does not require a large yard, but regular walks and playtime in a secure area are important for exercise. Apartment living is suitable if daily activity and mental enrichment are provided.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

While Yorkie mixes can do well with respectful older children, they may be too delicate for very young kids. Supervision and teaching children how to interact gently are important.
