About Armadillo
Armadillo is a shepherd mix with an unstoppable love for cuddles and kisses. She’s sharp—her intelligence gets noticed right away, especially when there’s a ball around to chase. Armadillo has spent time with a trainer and considered careers in law enforcement or TSA, but in truth, she just wants to live life on her own terms. No structured 9-to-5 for this girl. She’d much rather spend her days sprinting around the yard with her foster brother or playing fetch until her tongue’s hanging out. She’s built for an owner who gets her drive: maybe former canine handlers, K-9 officers, or someone with a taste for training and activity. At home, Armadillo flourishes with a big yard, a pile of throw toys, and a lifestyle that respects her independence. She’s good with other dogs but not cats, gets along with adults and older, considerate kids, and absolutely thrives on structure and outdoor time. She is spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped, leash and crate trained, and ready for an active home that can keep up with her energy and brains. Local adopters in the Greater New Orleans area are preferred, and long-distance placement might be possible for the right fit—just know she needs to be met in person. Foster trials are part of the process, so you can see if she’s your match without feeling rushed. What are you waiting for? Apply today!

Questions about Armadillo
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Breeds like Armadillo, a shepherd and cattle dog mix, thrive in active homes where they have room to run and things to do. They're ideal in environments with large, secure yards and owners who provide plenty of mental and physical stimulation.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Armadillo’s mix does best with plenty of outdoor space—shepherds and cattle dogs enjoy big fenced yards or rural settings. Apartment living isn’t ideal unless offset by very frequent, vigorous exercise.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Both Belgian Shepherd/Malinois and Australian Cattle Dog mixes like Armadillo can be good with older, considerate children who know how to respect boundaries. They may be too energetic for very young kids.
