Athena's story is hard to believe. She turned up in Taos, cold and alone, and a microchip showed she'd been missing from Albuquerque for over eight years. Reunification wasn’t meant to be, as her previous owners can’t take her back. Despite all this, Athena is remarkably loving and gentle. She gets along well with dogs of all sizes and pays little attention to cats. Around children, she melts—there’s nothing she likes more than a hug or a chance to dole out kisses. Athena’s affection and calmness shine through, even with her mild congestive heart failure, which causes her pot belly.
