She strikes a wonderful balance between being active and relaxed, enjoying walks, engaging play with her favorite toys, and winding down for cuddle time. Cherry seems to have learned house habits and does a great job walking on leash, making outings together pleasant and easy. She’s eager to please and already knows several basic commands, including sit, down, paw, and roll over, as well as a few fun tricks that show off her intelligence. Her enthusiasm for toys and chews provides great outlets for her energy and curiosity. With her familiar humans, Cherry is affectionate and enjoys close company. Although she can be wary of strangers and may bark with quick approaches, her trust grows quickly with slow introductions and a gentle approach—after a few meetings, she’s likely to warm up and show her sweet side. Cherry is still developing her social skills with other dogs. She has met both males and females in her time with the rescue and generally starts out stiff, sometimes being pushy or overcorrecting if she feels uncomfortable. Because of this, she’s best as the only dog in the home, though a careful meet-and-greet could open up additional options if a second dog is considered. Cherry is looking for someone ready to appreciate a bright, engaging dog and offer her a little patience as she gains confidence in new places and with new faces.
