Alto – From Shelter Life to a Future Full of Love Quick Facts Age: 1 year old Gender: Male Breed: Domestic Shorthair Vaccinations: Up to date Spayed/Neutered: Yes FeLV & FIV: Negative Microchipped: Yes Litter Trained: Yes Good With: Cats and respectful children Alto is a 1-year-old sweetheart who is just beginning to discover what life outside of a shelter can really be like. He grew up in the shelter alongside his brother, Kemper, and because of that, much of the world beyond those walls is still new to him. When Alto first came into foster, he was understandably a little nervous and unsure. After spending so much of his young life in a shelter environment, new surroundings and unfamiliar routines can take a little getting used to. But Alto is already showing just how much potential he has. With a little time and patience, he has been opening up beautifully and showing everyone what a truly sweet cat he is. Once he starts to feel safe, his gentle, affectionate nature begins to shine through. Alto is the kind of cat who may not be the first to rush into the spotlight, but the more comfortable he becomes, the more rewarding it is to watch him blossom. He is also wonderful with other cats, which makes sense for a boy who has spent much of his life sharing space with feline companions. Alto would likely do very well in a home with another friendly cat or in a calm environment where he can continue building confidence at his own pace. After growing up in the shelter, Alto deserves the chance to experience all the things he has been missing — soft places to nap, sunny windows, gentle affection, and the security of knowing he is finally home for good. If You’re Thinking About Adopting Me, I Think You Should Know I might be a little nervous when we first meet because I’m still learning that the world outside the shelter can be a really good place. But once I feel safe, I’m a very sweet boy who is opening up more every day. I do great with other cats, and I would love a home where I can settle in, take my time, and keep discovering how nice it is to be loved. If you are patient and kind, I think I could become a really wonderful companion. Important Adoption Information and Next Steps: All animals adopted through the Oswego County SPCA (OCAWL) are: Spayed or neutered Up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations Microchipped prior to adoption Cats are FeLV/FIV tested, and dogs are heartworm tested (if age-appropriate). Our animals are cared for in loving foster homes — they are not housed in a shelter environment. We review all applications thoroughly to ensure the best match for both animal and adopter. Our adoption fees help cover the cost of veterinary care, food, and rescue operations so we can continue saving animals throughout Oswego County. To apply to adopt, please visit www.oswegocountyspca.org and complete our adoption application. After Submitting Your Application: Please make sure you have notified your veterinarian that we will be calling and that it is okay to speak with us. If you do not currently have a vet, please determine which one you will be using and set up care in advance so we can confirm your new pet will receive medical attention when needed. For Pets Already in the Home: Because the number of homeless animals in our area is so large, we adopt only to homes where current pets are spayed or neutered, with documented medical exceptions. We also require that all resident pets be up to date on their vaccinations to help ensure that everyone — both new and existing family members — stays healthy and safe. Keep in Mind: We are 100 percent foster-based and 100 percent volunteer-operated, from the top down. Our team works hard to get animals into their forever homes as quickly as possible. Please be patient with us — but if you do not hear back within a few days, feel free to message us on our Facebook page to confirm your application went through.
