Adina is a smart, loving, medium-sized terrier mix around five years old. She came to the rescue from animal control and quickly showed her sweet, friendly personality to the volunteers. Though she was heartworm positive on arrival, her treatment is already scheduled and covered by the rescue, so she's hoping for a local adopter who will welcome her before it starts. Adina is thriving in a prison/foster training program where she's picked up several important commands—she knows how to sit, stay, come, go down, drop it, leave it, and place on command, as well as demonstrating great leash manners and polite door behavior. She gets along well with other friendly dogs and enjoys making new canine friends. With children, she hasn't had much exposure, so a meet-up is advised and the rescue recommends a home without toddlers, simply because she might accidentally bump into them. Adina can show some initial shyness with strangers, but she warms up quickly and is happiest cuddling nearby or even in a willing lap. Her energy is balanced—she has a playful side but also knows how to be calm, especially while she's recovering from heartworm treatment. She enjoys car rides, training, and time with people she trusts. Adina can startle at quick movements or doorways, but she works on this in her foster program and has shown progress. Adina is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, microchipped, and has good house training habits. Her new family should plan for a dental cleaning in the future due to some tartar, but otherwise she's in good shape.
