AvailableAbout Ace
Ace has spent more time in the shelter than any other dog at Orangeburg SPCA, quietly waiting for his turn while watching friends head to new homes. At 6 years old, Ace's journey started in a hoarding situation; he missed out on early love and often had to fight for what little comfort was available. After spending months off the adoption list because of court proceedings, Ace fears all that waiting made people overlook him. He’s honest about his rough edges—trust doesn’t come easy, and sharing toys is still a work in progress. Ace takes daily medication to control seizures, making medical diligence a priority for his success. Despite those challenges, shelter staff and volunteers see the playful spirit that breaks through. Ace has a real passion for running, and he’ll chase a tennis ball with surprising energy—a good match for someone looking for a companion who still wants to play, even with some gray around the muzzle. Ace is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and fully house trained. He gets along with other dogs and does well with children. Adoption takes several meet-and-greets with staff on hand before Ace can go home, to ensure everyone feels at ease. The shelter will support whoever chooses Ace through every stage of the adoption, and he’s also available for rescue transfer to teams who believe they can find him the right match. He’s lost a lot of time, and dreams of a steady place to finally call his own. Ready to fall in love? Hit apply and lets get started.
