About Lucy
Lucy and Toby are a bonded pair of senior dachshund mixes searching for a fresh start after their owner entered hospice. Lucy, a long-haired dachshund with a lively personality, is working toward a healthier weight and loves following her people everywhere. She's social, affectionate, and happiest curled up in a welcoming lap. Lucy craves regular walks and lots of attention, always eager to become her family’s best friend. Toby, at 19 pounds, takes life at a slower pace—he’s shy at first and finds comfort in Lucy’s presence. Patience wins him over, and he rewards it with steadfast loyalty and gentle affection. Together, they’re a team: Lucy brings the energy, Toby brings the calm, and they lean on each other for reassurance. Both dogs are house and crate trained, polite on leash, and cat-friendly (cats are mostly ignored). Lucy enjoys canine companionship, while Toby is at ease with quieter dogs—though really, he prefers sticking close to Lucy. They are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, and up to date on vaccinations. Lucy and Toby deeply need a home able to keep them together. They aren’t looking for perfection, just someone who can show patience and care after a season of big changes in their lives.
