About Dixie

Dixie is a young Chihuahua/Terrier mix with a short, white and black coat. She is Pixie’s baby and currently growing alongside her siblings, soaking up all she can in her foster home in Austin, TX. Dixie isn’t quite ready to leave the nest, as she’s still being weaned, but she will soon be available for foster-to-adopt once she’s a bit older and more independent. Dixie is up to date on vaccinations. Due to her small size, Dixie is not suited for homes with children under five years old. She is not yet house trained and will need some guidance as she settles into a new routine. She is available only to homes located in the immediate Austin area, as the rescue is dedicated to finding her a safe, stable, and loving local family. Ready to open your home to this little one? Questions about Dixie

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Dixie is a Chihuahua/Terrier mix who thrives best in a cozy indoor environment with a steady routine. Smaller breeds like her do well in apartments or houses as long as they are kept safe and receive attention.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

Chihuahua/Terrier mixes like Dixie do not require large yards. Regular walks and supervised playtime outside meet their needs just fine, making her adaptable to homes with limited outdoor space.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Dixie is best for homes without young children, especially those under five, due to her small size and fragility. Older children who understand gentle handling can be a better match for her breed.
