About Athena
Athena is a mellow, seasoned Labrador Retriever about 9 to 10 years old who enjoys an easy pace in life. Past her puppy antics, she values a daily stroll where she insists on taking the lead but never drags behind. She prefers patrols of the yard to playing with toys, and her vigilance keeps squirrels on their toes. Food is truly her favorite pastime, so you’ll have to be clever when it comes to administering her daily meds—she’s quick to eat around pills if given the chance. At home, Athena tends to bond more with women and happily shadows her foster mom throughout the day. She has accepted gentle attention from older kids and neighbors during walks, making her a fine roommate for families with calm, older children. Athena coexisted peacefully with another laid-back dog her size, but she’s unmistakably happiest as the only pet, especially since rambunctious or energetic dogs grate on her nerves. Cats spark her chase instincts, so a feline-free home is a must. She requires daily prescription medication for mobility, but regular walks have kept her feeling good. Athena does best with an owner who isn’t away for long hours, relishing the company as much as the comfort. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
