SATURDAY, MAY 2 from 12-3PM: DOG ADOPTION EVENT at the OLATHE PETSMART at 119th & Strang Line with volunteers from Heart of America Humane Society. We'll have several wonderful dogs there looking for homes! -------- Meet ATHENA! Athena is one of those girls you just instantly love. She’s got a playful side—she loves a good game of chase and hanging out with her dog friend Xena—but she’s just as happy to slow things down and relax once she’s gotten her energy out. She’s the kind of dog who fits right into your day… whether that’s a little yard time, a walk, or just lounging around together. Athena came from a situation that wasn’t fair—she, Xena, and Hermes (also up for adoption) were found crammed into a crate in a backyard. We don’t know how long they were there, but Athena didn’t let it change her sweet, loving personality. She’s still so full of joy and ready to move forward. She would like to meet any potential dog siblings to make sure it’s a good fit for everyone. Athena is ready for a home where she can just be loved and finally relax. Athena is a 5 year old Boxer/Pit Bull mix. Sadly, she tested positive for heartworms. But please don’t let this scare you away! We just need to get her into a home during her treatment. The cost for the heartworm treatment is completely covered. We can provide you with more info about her heartworm treatment if you are interested in adopting or fostering her (we’d love to find her a foster home!). Once her treatment plan is completed, Athena will be able to live a normal healthy life with no restrictions! ADOPTING A DOG Our dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and tested for heartworms (if 7 months or older). If you have a dog or children we ask that you bring them with you to meet our dogs to make sure it is a good match. We are open for meet and greet adoptions at our shelter on weekends. No appointment is necessary for weekend adoptions. Our weekend hours vary and we also have satellite adoption events every weekend.
