Meet Austin! Austin is a one-year-old Pitbull mix who landed at the shelter after being found as a stray in East Northport, NY. He can be wary of strangers at first, but give him some time and a few treats and he starts to trust. Austin regularly joins playgroups—each week he seems more comfortable and playful around his shelter pals. After a thorough behavioral assessment, staff found no food or toy guarding issues from him. He’s fully house trained, neutered, and current on all vaccinations. Austin seems to do best with an experienced owner, a home where any children are at least 10 years old, and ideally with a more confident dog companion who can help show him the ropes.
