**COURTESY LISTING** Flaco is not at HSoP. If you are interested in meeting Flaco, please contact his current owner at expatcanuck99@gmail.com. Flaco is a classic orange cat...he's kind of dopey and sweet, and also still gets wild zoomies (even though he's almost 10, neutered when we met him at 12 weeks). He likes people and birds, but has some challenges with wondering what other cats are doing, and we think he just needs more space to watch them. He is generally a big mush--his favorite spot in the winter is in front of the woodstove, and he gets into any lap he can. He loves Hallowe'en when the kids come...he really likes everybody and flirts with everyone. He watches birds outside and is particularly charmed by crows (he talks to them!) He's not big on most toys, but will run himself silly chasing a laser pointer. He also likes a salad, so to keep him out of the houseplants we give him catnip from the garden. His days are pretty uneventful (which he seems okay with most of the time. He gets Gabapentin morning and evening when he's fed (and he's easy to medicate, very cooperative). Most days there'll be a window open and he enjoys keeping an eye on everything while getting some fresh air. We think Flaco would thrive in a home where he was the only cat. We don't know about other animals (he might be great with dogs, for example). He can be very affectionate and cuddly with our other cat, but his size--he's almost twice as big as the little one--and his enthusiasm means that his "playing" is ending up with the little one being overwhelmed. Flaco has always been an indoor-only cat but he would probably really enjoy being outside. We have never leash-trained a cat, but someone who had the experience and patience for that would be ideal for Flaco. Flaco is completely box-trained (no issues there), and he comes when you whistle. He's also very food/treat-motivated, so when he takes his medication, he's come to expect a treat or two. When he is distracted by other cats (the ones he sees outside), he gets worked up and will sometimes spray. The Gabapentin has helped with that, but he still acts out sometimes. He's up-to-date on vaxxes for indoor cats. He does eat c/d food because he's prone to urinary tract crystals (he doesn't particularly like it, though). He also doesn't seem to like the wet food that we've tried. He doesn't eat people food. He loves Greenies, especially the smaller bits. He's pretty chatty and would need a home where that isn't a problem. He just really needs a different home and he deserves more focused attention than we're able to provide.
