About Weston
Weston is a big, older German Shepherd with plenty of energy left to offer. At 88 pounds and still a bit underweight, he's looking for a steady routine and a home that appreciates a confident, social companion. Weston is relaxed around other dogs when out and about and doesn’t react to them; however, due to some resource guarding issues that are still being worked on, he'd do best as the only pet in the home or with someone experienced in managing dog behavior. Small children aren’t ideal for Weston, unless the adopter is very familiar with breed-specific behavior training, since his background includes living with both dogs and kids—but safety takes priority. He’s house trained and currently manages a mild gastrointestinal issue with B12 shots and a special diet (the rescue is willing to cover medical expenses if a local forever foster is found—especially near Cedar Falls, IA or Waverly, IA). Weston gets along well with cats, has a soft spot for affectionate attention, and is waiting for a low-drama retirement in a place to call home. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
