About Betty

Meet Betty, a 15-year-old blind granny with surprising grit and a real love of life. She came from a tough situation at Harbor Shelter after a long stretch of neglect and now faces a collapsed trachea, an enlarged heart, a large inguinal hernia, spinal arthritis, and early-stage kidney disease. She also needs a dental. It’s a lot, but don’t be fooled—Betty has a stubborn spirit, sleeps like a champ, never misses a meal, and honestly just wants a good patch of sun. She enjoys the company of other dogs and loves being outdoors. This senior girl deserves to feel truly cherished and pampered for however long she has left. Betty will be available for adoption after her medical work and surgeries are finished, but an approved medical foster might be an option. She is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, fully vetted, and will be spayed. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!

Questions about Betty

  • What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?

Betty’s Terrier/Chihuahua mix background means she’s adaptable to apartment living or a home with a yard. She values a peaceful environment with patient people who understand her needs as a senior.

  • How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?

As a small Terrier/Chihuahua mix, Betty doesn’t need much outdoor space—just enough for short, slow walks or a few minutes basking in the sun. She prefers calm, supervised outings.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Terrier/Chihuahua mixes like Betty are generally gentle but may be too fragile for homes with very young children. Older, respectful kids could be a good fit, especially if they understand her special needs.
