About Shyla

Shyla is a gentle soul who just needs a patient hand. She came into the shelter as a stray, so there is no history on her past, but it’s easy to see that the world feels overwhelming to her. At about five years old, Shyla is still figuring out how to relax and show her true self—loud noises, new faces, and unfamiliar places startle her easily. Even so, she’s making progress: lately, she’s begun wagging her tail, accepting gentle affection, and braving short walks outside. Shyla is shy, under socialized, and will need slow exposure to the everyday chaos of home life. Her ideal setup is a calm, quiet home with a consistent routine, a patient and understanding person around most of the time, and preferably another dog to help her settle in and learn the ropes. If you bring another dog to meet her, the shelter will help coordinate it. A fenced yard is best, but she’ll also do well with regular leash walks—she’s a flight risk early on. Shyla is spayed, house trained, vaccinated, and microchipped. She has a long road ahead, but she’s up for it. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
