About Tango

Tango is a 3-year-old male, weighing approximately 60 lbs. He's a mized breed- we think he has Carolina Dog and Husky in his mix. He is the kind of dog who makes you wonder how he hasn’t been snatched up already. Mellow, affectionate, and good-natured. He doesn’t bark. He doesn’t demand. He simply wants to be close to his people — following them from room to room, resting his head nearby, and greeting every new face with a wagging tail and a calm curiosity. His foster family has taken him everywhere: to the office, to outdoor festivals, to school drop-offs. Strangers become instant fans. Kids gravitate toward him. He is, in the words of his foster, “one of the sweetest dogs we have ever had.” Tango is a submissive pup. He is gentle with other dogs, patient with children, and curious but calm around cats. His foster has introduced him to four kittens, and his response was a soft sniff followed by total indifference. He plays regularly with kids ages 8 and 11 and shows absolutely no prey drive. He has a medium energy level that makes him adaptable: active enough to enjoy a good play session in a backyard, settled enough to be content after a short walk. Tangois is afraid to walk on some slippery floors and he can get underfoot when he’s following his favorite person around, so households with very elderly individuals should take note. Tango is fully house trained and crate trained. He does well when left alone for several hours and is not destructive — the occasional light chewing (roughly six incidents over three months) is the extent of his mischief. His current routine includes five walks a week and regular play time time in a large fenced backyard. Leash manners are a work in progress — he walks nicely on a leash, but still pulls at times. Tango knows “sit” and picks up new things quickly with consistent, patient handling. Tango came to into rescue with some physical challenges behind him. He underwent surgery to repair his hip sockets and correct a hole in his nasal cavity, He has since made a remarkable recovery with no ongoing issues, no medications, no limitations on activity, and is in good health. Tango's hard days are behind him; he is ready for his new beginning. Tango is looking for a family that wants a devoted companion, and that will include him in their activities.
