About Spirit

Meet Miss Spirit! Don't let her appearance fool you—Spirit is a striking blue merle Sheltie, not a Collie. She arrived with her friend Suede after losing her previous home, and she's now thriving in foster care. At 11 years old, Spirit hasn't slowed down; she still enjoys playtime and has a knack for livening up the house. Though she's always ready for a wrestling match with her foster siblings, she's just as eager for some well-earned butt scratches from her favorite people. Spirit lost her home after her mom passed away and her dad couldn't take care of her due to health issues, but she's handled the changes gracefully. These days, she mingles with other Shelties in her foster home and, after a brief adjustment, gets along well. She spends a lot of time outdoors supervising the younger dogs, especially loving the chance to roam the yard. Spirit prefers canine company her own size or smaller, and larger dogs can unsettle her, especially since she's lost some eyesight. She does best when she can make introductions at her own speed; if startled, she'll sometimes give a surprised yelp but never acts aggressively. Spirit is otherwise healthy, resilient, and ready to enjoy a loving home with a fenced yard where she can shine. This sweet old gal is still full of life and eager to be someone's devoted companion. Shetland Sheepdogs like Spirit benefit from a fenced yard where they can roam, explore, and supervise. While they can adapt to various homes, time outside is important for their well-being.

  • Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?

Spirit's breed is generally known for being gentle and good with children, especially if introductions are handled thoughtfully. However, due to Spirit's vision loss, calmer homes or older children who respect her space might be ideal.
